With over 40 years of his rich Industrial experience of National and International and out of which about 6 years in Power sector (NTPC, Suzlon Wind Energy), 17 years in Automobile R&D,13 years in Energy sectors (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, EPC) and about 5.6 years in Academic that includes 3.6 years in IIT Delhi, held positions as Vice President, Associate Vice President, Technical Advisor/Subject Matter Expert, and Adjunct Professor respectively.

Mission & Vision

Mission: To give Technical Services to the rotating equipments, primarily by conducting its design audit with respect to API, DEP and secondly failure root cause analysis for the reported problem to ascertain reliability, durability and safety are in place as designed and manufactured by OEM with assured design life cycle to user Industries

Vision: To be a reliable partner who take ownership in solving their equipment problems by interacting with OEM as Subject Matter Expert in resolving design issues at the earliest and put back the equipment in operational to avoid shut-downs and productivity losses and productivity losses

Experience

  • August 2021-Feb 2022: M/S TCI-Sanmar Egypt, VCM 3 Plant - Consultancy Project : Systematically Carried-out The Failure Root Cause Analysis and Diagnosis for the cause of high journal bearing vibrations, consequential shutdown and failure of Centrifugal Gas Compressor supplied by M/s Johnson Industries, USA. Identified the root cause and got it rectified by OEM i.e., design deficiency of Balancing Piston i.e., inadequacy of clearance/gap between Rotary and Static Labyrinth seals. The compressor was put back into operation successfully by incorporating redesigned and modified Balancing Piston.

  • March 2009 to November 2016 : M/S Petrofac International Limited, Sharjah, UAE –as Subject Matter Expert (SME)/ Tech Advisor – Rotating Equipments: It’s an Oil and Gas upstream EPC British based company of size 13,000 employees with revenue of about USA $ 7.8 Billion, EBITDA USA $ 706 Millions and profit of USA $ 463 million, backlog of USA $ 14.3 Billions, used to carry out rotating equipment studies each of turnkey project worth of about USA $ 1Billion. The main role played was to carryout Rotordynamic Design Audit of OEM supplied equipments with respect to API, DEP and any International standards to ascertain its Reliability, Durability and Safety before PO release and subsequent supervision of Mechanical Run Tests and String Tests at OEM works to verify theoretical results. The second major role as SME-Failure Root Cause Analysis (FRCA), Machine Fault Diagnosis and remedial solutions. The third role was Training and Development of Engineers in Rotordynamics/ Vibrations, FRCA and Machinery Diagnosis.

  • March 2007-March 2009: M/s Suzlon Wind Energy Ltd.,MNC, Pune, India- as VP/Head –Technical Audit: Executed Technical Audits pertinent to Rotor Blades, WTGs, Towers assemblies at the manufacturing and at field locations by a team of 28 personnel to ascertain design standards are in place to assure reliable, durable, safe services to give productivity as per designed life cycle. The other major role was SME to carryout Failure Root Cause Analysis & Diagnosis.

  • March 2006- March 2007: M/S Cummins India Ltd., MNC, Pune, India, as SR G.M- Engineering: Head the cross Functional Teams and carried-out Zero Defective Initiative at corporate level to reduce top 10 warranties to zero by implementing total Quality Standards of SIX- Sigma and DFS to solve design issues, quality issues at manufacturing and in fields.

  • Jan 2003 to March 2006 : M/S Kirloskar Oil Engines – Engineering & Research, Pune- as Associate Vice President – Digvijay Project: Head a team of 10 experienced specialized design engineers to carry-out Design, Development of V shaped, and four Valves family of 300, 400, 500 and 600 KVA Diesel Engines as an import substitute for Daewoo engines that are mainly used for Diesel Powered Gensets. Also to evaluate design, development and testing of GOEMs canopies produced for all models of KOEL Engines and ensure to meet CPCBset norms i.e., Silent and least Pollutant Green Canopies. Also as SME carried out NVH for Engines and coordinated with ARAI for certification. Developed a totally new NVH, Fatigue and Reliability studies lab to conduct tests24x7 on newly designed components & as well existing to ascertain quality & design life cycles.

  • April 2000 to March 2003 : M/s Kinetic Motor Company Ltd., Pune as Dy G.M-Technology Development: Developed Technology to carryout NVH studies by using a team of 15 experienced engineers to conduct studies on newly developed and as well on existing two wheeler vehicles components in a way to produce least Vibration & Noise and less harshness vehicles that gives fatigueless and least annoyances to a driver& pillion rider. Also handled two years Project management in Design and Development of cost effective, totally new scooter by name “ZING” 65CC Scooter from concept to launching and technical support for the first 5000 vehicles to marketing and sales dept. Project was successfully completed.

  • June 1994 to May 1999 : M/S PEQUIVEN/ PDVSA –Maracaibo, Venezuela, South America- as Technical Advisor- Rotating Equipments: Head the cross-functional teams to guide and carryout Condition Monitoring studies of Olefin, Cloro-soda, Urea, Ammonia, PVC plants Rotating equipments using Vibration instruments and it’s analysis of the same for Prevention, Prediction and Prognosis maintenance. Also as SME used to conduct Rotordynamic studies of Turbines, Centrifugal Gas Compressors etc., of highly vibrating equipments and fixing the same with design remedial solution. Also conducted fault Diagnosis and Failure Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures and suggested remedial solutions to avoid the same. Natural Frequency studies conducted on Westinghouse Gas Turbines to establish a relationship between discs to blade root clearances. To ascertain the developed relationship on clearances, test was conducted on live turbine to check the dynamic performance and found good. Also had a responsibility to conduct Training and Development of Engineers in Rotordynamics Studies.

  • Nov 1989 to June 1994:M/S BEML-R&D (Ministry of Defence), KGF, Kolar- as Head/Senior Manager – Structural Lab: Head a team of 28 engineers to carryout 24x7 Fatigue and Reliable studies for in-house designed and developed structures like Chassis, Axels, Universal Joints, Shock Observers etc., and the same to verify with CAE calculated results. Also executed Design and Development and testing of 30 tones Rear Dumper-Wheeled Equipment as an import substitute for Dresser Rand, USA. Project successfully completed and launched in the market. Besides the above two responsibilities as Subject Matter Expert used to carry out Vibration and Noise studies of Power-line assemblies and structures. Also head a team of 10 Engineers to carryout Product Engineering & Manufacture Technology Development through centralized CAD/CAM cell to operate CNC Machines to produce quality and consistent components with least rejection rate.

  • June 1986 – Nov 1989 : N.T.P.C-R&D (20000MW Corporate, Ministry of Power), Delhi- as Deputy Manager: Head a cross function team of Engineers to carryout Condition Monitoring of Rotating Equipments for Preventive, Predictive, and Prognosis maintenance to avoid sudden failures/ down time and to ascertain designed PLF. Also as a SME conducted Vibration studies to identify Natural Frequencies as Potential Resonance frequencies of Turbine blades, ID and FD FAN blades and resolving the same through OEM supplier. Had responsibility to conduct Training and development of Engineers in Condition Monitoring and Vibration Engineering. Besides the above said activities had responsibility to conduct Tribological studies and Failure Root Cause Analysis of various Components i.e., Bearings, Impellers, Coal Crushers etc.

  • May 1981-June 1986 : M/S Escorts Limited- R&D, Faridabad, Near Delhi, as Asst Manager- Computer Aided and Forward Engineering: As Subject Matter Expert used to conduct Vibration studies on various Structural Components and Engine parts to ascertain design improvements to avoid Fatigue to passengers who use tractor for transportation besides AGRICULTURAL purposes, as an attempt for human ergonomics improvement. Established a new NVH lab to carryout Reliability and Durability studies of newly designed and developed components. Had responsibility to conduct Failure root cause analysis of various Engine and Structural Components.

  • October 1977 to May 1981 : I.I.T Delhi/ITMMEC, Academic , as Senior Research Asst: Established Machine Dynamics Lab and organized to acquire related Vibration and Noise testing instruments to conduct Research on Vibration and Noise. As a special assignment, Designed and Developed Vibration Isolation Suspended bed5x4x1.5 meters, 1HZ natural frequency to carryout Vibration quality assessment studies of Rotating equipments. Also Designed, Developed and Tested high speed Turbine Blade test rig to conduct Vibration and Fatigue studies of blades in the lab as an assignment from ARDB, Delhi and the same was used to complete my part time Ph.D., studies on “Turbine Blade Vibrations”.
